Back when I first started trading, I looked for a virtual trading room where I could hang out with other traders.

I didn’t manage to find one, and wasn’t able to start my own since live streaming technology at the time was prohibitively expensive.

These days, the costs have come down so I decided to give it a shot and spent some time live streaming my trading activity as an experiment.

Would it be a good idea to host a live trading room? I wanted to find out.

Live Streaming Test

After a couple weeks of testing I realized that a full daily 8-hour trading live stream is probably not going to work.

There is too much downtime (waiting) between trades, and I reckon most people don’t have the inclination to “hang out” on a live stream where nothing is actively happening 80% of the time.

Do you have any ideas/suggestions/alternatives? Or should I just scrap the whole idea? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Next, let’s take a look at how my trading algos are doing.

Algos: Still Struggling

The algos took a -1.29% hit in August, which is both a relief and a disappointment.

On one hand, I’m relieved because the (demo) account equity has stopped sliding as aggressively as it did back in July (where it took a -2.06% hit).

On the other hand, this account is still in drawdown and even though the algos now look to be “fighting back”, it remains to be seen if their performance will continue to improve.

The monitoring continues, and if you’d like to stay in the loop, let me know in the comments section and if there’s interest I’ll keep everyone updated if/when things turn around.

Short Term Trading

I recently had an epiphany about one of my short term trading strategies and I’ll be tracking its performance on a new live account:

I have quite some experience with this trading approach and am fairly confident it has positive expectancy… but there are no guarantees in the market so we’ll just have to see how it goes.

If it continues to perform over the next few months I’ll be dedicating more capital to it and sharing the results here on the blog.

Your Thoughts?

I’m wondering if there’s value in hosting regular live interactions with my readers (via live streaming).

What do you think? What type of live interaction would be useful/helpful to you? Or would you prefer recorded (educational) videos?
